Plain-English definitions of the crypto payment terms used across Shieldz.
- Non-custodial: A non-custodial payment processor never holds your funds or your private keys.
- Stablecoin: A cryptocurrency pegged to a stable asset, usually the US dollar, such as USDC or USDT.
- Crypto payment gateway: A service that lets a business accept cryptocurrency payments, typically with hosted checkout, invoicing, and webhooks.
- Extended public key (xpub): A public key from which many receive addresses can be derived, without the ability to spend.
- Webhook: An HTTP callback a service sends when an event happens, for example invoice.paid.
- Settlement: The final delivery of funds to the merchant.
