Introducing Shieldz: non-custodial crypto payments with $0 fees

Introducing Shieldz

Shieldz is a non-custodial crypto payment processor. You accept stablecoins, Bitcoin, and shielded Zcash, the money lands directly in your own wallet, and Shieldz never touches it. Zero platform fees, no KYC to start, and an open API with SDKs in four languages.

The problem we set out to fix

Every crypto payment tool we tried fell into one of three traps. Some hold your funds in a custodial balance you have to withdraw, which means an account that can be frozen and a counterparty that can fail. Some charge a percentage of every sale on top of network gas. And many demand identity verification before you can receive a single cent. For a freelancer, a creator, or a small merchant who just wants to get paid, that is too much friction and too much risk.

What Shieldz is

Shieldz is non-custodial by construction. You give it a public key only: a wallet address, an extended public key (xpub), or a Zcash view-only key. Buyers pay that address directly. Shieldz watches the blockchain and tells you the moment a payment lands, through a signed webhook or a simple status check. Because it never holds a private key or a seed phrase, it is mathematically unable to spend, freeze, or seize your money.

That single design choice removes whole categories of crypto risk. There is no smart contract approval to sign, so no "drainer" can empty a connected wallet. Shieldz never asks for a seed phrase, and could not use one if you handed it over. Funds never pool in a Shieldz account, so the classic "pay a fee to unlock your balance" scam simply has nothing to grab.

How it works

You generate a twelve word mnemonic in your browser. Shieldz derives every receive address from it (Bitcoin zpub, EVM address, Zcash unified address), and it never sees the mnemonic itself. You create an invoice with one API call or from the dashboard, send your customer to a hosted checkout page, and reconcile from a webhook or the dashboard. The whole flow takes minutes to set up.

What you can accept

Settle to USDC or USDT on Base, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, and Ethereum, plus native Bitcoin and shielded Zcash for private, off-ledger payments. Buyers can pay with a wide range of coins and have them routed to your chosen settlement token. You always keep one hundred percent of the amount and pay only the blockchain network fee.

Built for developers

Shieldz ships a small, predictable REST API: create an invoice, retrieve it, list invoices, and verify HMAC signed webhooks. There is a machine readable OpenAPI spec, a browsable API reference, and official open source SDKs for Node, Python, Rust, and PHP, plus a Model Context Protocol server so AI agents can create invoices natively. The Node and Python clients have zero runtime dependencies.

Verifiable trust

You do not have to take our word for any of this. The code that turns your mnemonic into receive addresses runs in your browser and is open source, so you can read every line and confirm that Shieldz only ever holds public keys. The deployed frontend bundle can be built locally and hash compared against the live version. See verify it yourself and is it safe for the full walkthrough.

Pricing

Free forever for everyone, with no transaction fee and no percentage of sales. Free accounts show one brief sponsored card on the payment confirmed screen, which covers our servers and nodes. An optional Pro plan at ninety nine dollars a year removes the ad and gives you an unbranded checkout. Same zero fees, same non-custodial settlement either way.

Who it is for

Freelancers invoicing clients, creators taking tips and donations, open source projects running fundraisers, and small merchants who want crypto checkout without custody, frozen accounts, KYC friction, or fees.
