How Many Crypto Payment Gateways Settle to Fiat? 66% (2026)
About two thirds of crypto payment gateways can settle to fiat. In our August 2026 audit, 33 of 50 (66%) offer settlement or withdrawal to fiat currency, while the other 17 keep you in crypto, usually a stablecoin like USDC or USDT.
Fiat settlement is convenient but almost always custodial and KYC-gated: to move crypto into a bank account, a regulated party has to hold it first. Settling to a stablecoin keeps the dollar value without the custody, since USDC and USDT are already pegged to the dollar.
Method: classification of fiat-settlement capability across 50 gateways, from our comparison of 50 crypto payment gateways. Shieldz settles to stablecoins straight to your own wallet, no custody, so you hold dollar-pegged value the moment a payment confirms; see accept stablecoin payments.
